One more sepia pic for the time being. This one's a little larger at 8.5 x11. Sepia markers on parchment paper . A buff palomino boy looks inviting as he takes a break from his farm chores:)

It's the materials. The paper is parchemnt paper available in most scrapbooking stores. I bought mine at Michael's. I sketch the pic using my usual mechanical pencil. I then ink it with a sepia waterproof marker pen. Then out come the Copic sketch markers. I prefer the sketch style because they have the brush tip on one side and it feels more like painting to me. The squared off sides I just find frustrating. I choose a set of four sepia coloured ones going from light to dark. Then starting with the light I lay in the coloured areas, working with darker and darker markers till I get an effect I like. I often go back in with the lighter markers to go over whole areas and bring the colours together. Finally I use a while prismacolour pencil to add in the highligths. Sign it and I"m done!
Well, this isn't true parchment which is rather expensive and hard to find these days. This paper is scrapbook paper and easy to find at Michaels or scrapbook stores. It's just a nice thick paper in 12x12 sheets, or is that 10x10. At any rate, it erases just fine, takes marker and coloured pencils well. Not sure about paint but from the feel of it, acrylic should work just fine.
