Laying in bed and this idea comes to me, after much mulling and brief discussion with my wifu
on the subject of the cuteness that is Sugar Gliders!!
So I grabbed a note book from my bag and sketched this little darling into existence! (Cause too much pain to sit at the computer.)
I'm totally in love with her!
Yes, there will be males. Yes, there will be rules about colors/markings/different kinds and lack of horns/ear length/etc.
There will also be chibis! Cause yes.
I am calling this new species Silkies.
Silkie would be the singular form....
What you think? If I made adoptables would anyone want one? Or more?
Silkie species, art and character all ©
Silkies are a closed species. Please do not make your own.
SILKIES:
The primary thing about them is: they are marsupials. They have pouches! In their ears! A female can have two offspring at a time, one in each ear. They can also become pregnant at different times! So one joey can be significantly older than the other. A joey will stay in it's mother's pouch for 16 months at which time it then transfers to the father's pouch for another 16 months until they are old enough, and trained by their father's, to fend for themselves and to hunt and defend themselves and their younger siblings.
GENDERS:
Joey's are genderless until 8 years old when they develop a sense of who they are and what roll they would prefer to play for the perpetuation of the species.
There can be gay and lesbian Silkies, but they are rare since they only come about when the Silkie population in an area is too high.
SIZE:
They are very small, males no more than 18" in height and females 14".
EARS:
Ear length is dependant on gender, males have the longest ears, and sexual orientation, lesbian and gay Silkies have much shorter ears.
EYES:
Eye color is metallic. Silver, gold, copper, and bronze. Silver is the rarest and so on down the line, with bronze and copper being the most common. As a Silkie ages, their eyes take on the appearance of aged metal.
The second set of eyes under the primary eyes are for low light/no light vision. The detect heat and cold. All secondary eyes are bright green. (Idea for secondary eyes from
kingofmaggots thank you!)
FUR:
Fur is short, thick , dense, and extremely soft! Males have darker and more earthy tones to their fur while females are brightly colored to attract mates. Lesbian and gay Silkies are pastel shades of their gender.
PATTERNS:
Male Silkie have simple and commonly occuring patters, most common being those of a fox or a tabby cat.
Females can have simple and elegant patterns or they can be random and garrish.
When a female Silkie is pregnant, she becomes pure white.
Joey's are grey until they reach 8, then their fur gradually changes to reflect their choice.
BEHAVIOR:
Silkie are social creatures of great intelligence, they have language, written and spoken, artisans, specialists and criminals just like any sentient species.
