I chose Piplup too, but I stuck with him since Empoleon's a bad dude.

yeah mine leveled (eventually) and doesn't suck so much anymore. I'm moderately happy with him XD

Don't feel bad, I got Pokemon Pearl way back in November along with my DS. I'm just now getting back into playing it after starting way back then; haven't even taken on the second Gym yet. I also chose to play as a girl, even though I'm male. ^.^

I do tend to like Shinx too. It's evolutions are some of the few where it starts out cute and ends with it looking pretty cool and bad-ass. My only gripe is it's early-on lack of learning Attacks. I finally got mine to level 13 and it learned Bite. It still takes to level 17 for it to learn Spark! It's first real electirc attack! And don't let it evolve at level 15, or it'll take to level 18 to learn Spark. >.< Pachirisu (the squirrel) gets to learn it at level 13, and the lowest level you can usually catch those at is level 8. :P What's worse is you'll find a Trainer that has a level 13 Shinx that somehow knows Spark (just to piss you off).

OMG! That pissed me off too! it took so long to learn anything! It was annoying because I never ever use status attacks (I find them useless even though they work) but the little pachirisu (which I also find useless) it just...grrr! Well I got a chance to teach my Shinx some good dark moves too which makes up for it to me.

Since you have the version I do not and I know of really no one who either has the game(s) or is still playing, would you like to trade some Pokemon? I just happened to be doing the Underground activities and wound up acquiring three Armor Fossils. I know Diamond players get the cooler, and stronger, of the two new fossil Pokemon, but it would help get that Pokedex data at least.

I'll just have to figure out about this Wireless internet stuff. I'll either have to find some place nearby that offers wireless connections, or try to get the Nintendo USB Connector.

That Piplup of yours will need a whole lot of Therapy

I started with Turtwig myself in Diamond, and Piplup in Pearl. Once I caught Shinx, it's become my most valuable partner. <3

Hmmm how was turtwig? I've never started with a grass-type before!

Turtwig has a pretty good range of Grass attacks, much like Treecko, Chikorita and Bulbasaur. It also helped me raise my Shinx. ^_^

Its evolutionary stage, Grotle, looks a tad odd, but has a strong defense.

all the starters were butt. shinx acctually turns out really effective, my luxray still kicks ass when hes not posing for slinky underwear adds and gay porn

Ha :D I disowned my chimchar as soon as I got my shinx. Out of all my pokemon she's now my powerhouse. Best choice I made during the whole game.

lol same here :B I switched out my torterra for a garchomp, but that was of course later in the game Xb
