well awhile back a project called "Sonic Boom" was announced and it had like shadows of Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles and they all looked kind of weird. Well yesterday some trailers came out and showed what they look like, the trailers where for a new game and TV show that are in development. Sonic Boom is gonna be its own thing, so even though the characters look pretty different it wont effect the main Sonic series of characters

don't forget the tv show will be on cartoon network aswell from what i heard
