very nice work gill. characters look great and so does the background.
though they feel like 2 different images put together. the background looks a bit more refined in the values where as the characters have that soft cell shade look.
i think it would hold together a bit better to see the values on you and banga to be more refined like the background.

okay i see what you mean. i think if the foreground was more refined it would hold together even more.
to me it looks like a really well done figure and a good landscape speed paint were put together.
especially if around the figures had some more detail to it it would make it feel more unified.

also did you shade the figures with a gray or a blue? with that warm yellow light you could have a little more of a blue violet mixed into the shadows.
if you want a bit more of that animated style to it.
