This is the most recent song I've released (when I went by DJ Stickypaws.) At the time of this track's writing I was HUGE into the music of early melodic/anthemic trance artists like SASH!, Zombie Nation, Storm, etc.
This is mastered WAY differently than dance tracks are these days, where current dance (and pretty much any electronic music) tracks are mastered with the kick as the driving force, essentially the snappiest part of the song. But I mastered this with the melody and arpeggio as the driving force, because you never hear someone humming the kick from a song when it's stuck in their head. >.>
I've more or less evolved out of this style of tracks, but I still have a ton of melodic tracks like this sitting on my workstation unfinished. If this track becomes popular maybe I'll finish the other melodic ones.
I also have a radio edit and a club mix of this song. The whole album is available for download on my bandcamp page but I'll probably end up uploading them here.
ORIGINALLY RELEASED JUNE 7, 2014

the kick is made loudest so it can punch through in a club. a really strong kick and low end makes the ground (and booties) shake on the dancefloor, making it "dance" music. that's not to say melodies aren't important, but the relations between really low and really high freqs are what give it energy.
