Not really sure. Unlike those two, he might not have anything to do with this evil thing. Remember, according to the game trailer, this is an "Ancient Land Discovered", so there's any number of things that could have released it or it might have just been confined to those lands. I've also heard that Amy is supposed to have some sort of archeological thing going on in this game (It's AU to the main Sonic games), so there might be a reason they're here (Or, there, I mean, which makes more sense than Knuckles supposedly being a treasure hunter when he was supposed to be guarding that Emerald that everyone and their grandma has stolen by now)
Personally, I kinda like the choice because it means the game (A prequel to the show) can have you beat the big bad while still leaving Eggman as the main antagonist for the show, or at least as one of them.

And Ray and Mighty were originally Sonic, or at least original designs before they settled on a hedgehog, so you never know.
As for Knuckles...I am glad he got a bit buffer, since it was kind of weird for him, as a power character, to be the same size as Tails and Sonic when others like Storm, Big and Vector are huge. they did make him a bit odd, but these are also the same folks who made Dark Jak, so I sorta see his design a bit in Knuckles here

I really love the design of Amy in Sonic Boom and even noticed some interesting things involving how they are portraying her in her actions, so be interesting to see this interpretation of Amy! Anyway I really love how you drew her here, she looks cute and fantastic and I especially love the colours, nice work and keep it up n_n
