I finally managed to find a couple photos taken of my Changeling armor. Photo was taken outside the Pony Party on the party floor at Further Confusion 2014. I think it turned out quite well, though with that belly this changeling obviously fed on too much love lately.
EDIT: Can't believe I forgot to add construction info here - my bad. The purple helmet, chest piece and back piece (obviously not visible) are made of aircraft aluminum shaped by hand by
ironbadger. After shaping and finishing by the Badger, I added many layers of filler primer to fill in any remaining tool marks and most minor surface imperfections. Paint is BMW Interlagos Blue, which shows as blue or purple depending on the lighting. This was covered in an automotive epoxy clearcoat.
Note: the reflective gloss came from the clearcoat. I was expecting the paint to have shine as well, but no matter how think I put on the blue it would not acquire a shine. Much to my surprise, the dried clearcoat added a nice reflective gloss!
* The face inside the helmet is black PVC plastic, and painted satin black to give a semi-gloss surface much like the changelings from MLP.
* Eyes are from a pair of safety glasses hot glued behind the mask.
* Fangs are actually antler tips that Badger had left over from another project.
* The horn is a buffalo horn bought from a taxidermy shop; it was already that color of black when it arrived in the mail.
* The ears and crest are made from sheets of craft foam, cut and layered into place.
* The wings are also craft foam, and they stick out through slits in the back armor. They're angled upwards so you can see them from the front.
* Note the side straps, which hold the front and back armor plates together, have the same three-line decoration found on the side of the changeling drones.
* The shirt and pants are PVC/vinyl clothing purchased online. The satin finish replicates the changeling chitin fairly well.
