I've always imagined something like this... My character going off into the mountains someplace and slowly ,painstakingly carving a home from the raw stone, and molding the landscape around it to fit his needs. I always picture some kind of hidden mountain lake that he cleans up and makes into a bathing pool, and a secret underground cavern with crystals on the walls with a hot springs to lounge in somewhere deep underneath.
