Oh yes. Shi has hir adopted sisters, and in hir biological family shi is the oldest of hir brothers and sisters (not known to hir at this point)
And yes, it is the right term as chakats tend to be referred to as sisters while skunktaurs prefer to be referred to as brothers. This is because hir mother is a Skunktaur and hir sire is a Chakat.
More plot twists to come. he he.

This is a great leap of improvment.
Watch the tenses though you are still slipping into present.
Ex:
Present: Kyle shakes his head. "It can't be done. Radiation therapy kits repair damage to the genetic structure done to the DNA by ionising radiation. There are different kits, depending on your species."
"And they are humans. Surely the human kit will work?" Burst says, pointing to the room.
Kyle looks sad. "Sadly, we can't. Remember how I said that their genetic structure has a marked difference to humans of today?" Burst nods, not sure what was wrong. "Well, the difference is too great. The kits we have today will provide just too much variance to their DNA and could cause further damage."
Burst frowns. "How? Surely it is just as easy as repairing the DNA pairs which are virtually universal across all living species?"
Kyle shakes his head. "Not so. A radiation therapy kit actually uses a retro virus to initiate the repairs to the damaged DNA. It is programmed to look for specific patterns, identify the damaged areas, and replace these areas. And that is where the issue lies. These two have a genetic sequence that has some matches, but there are far too many differences and it could kill them."
"Oh," Burst said, a little surprised. "So, what can you do for them?"
Kyle sighs. "Not much. Pain killers are about all we can do now."

Work on sprinkling more action with your dialogue tags. Characters do more than just talk, look, and be sad. It can also be an excellent place to express your external and external character traits.
Still, wonderful and exciting.

Ahhh. Yes. Thanks for that. That was the one area where i was in and out all day working on as work now has me on the phones all day. I tried to fix it up and obviously missed that.
And thanks for the tip on traits. I'll try to do that in the fix-up for this as there is a lot going on here. Interestingly enough, what i write is almost how i am in real life. Not much in the way of shown emotion except for the major points so i don't tend to think of that much. Thanks again.

Oh? So if 'I' can do it - anybody can? Hmmm, considering the amount of help I need just to not put my foot in my mouth and wiggle the toes - that might not be far of ...
And I was happy to see above that you have at least one reader/editor. Trust me, those guys/gals are worth their weight in gold!

Read it out loud. If you stumble on something it's a sign that something needs fixing. It won't make all the errors disappear, but it can reduce them.
As for the toe thingy ...
"No - I did not put my foot in my mouth! What's that? You want me to try to wiggle my toes? What does that have to do with ... ahh hell, that is my foot ..."
