every time i read one of these life with otters strips i hope, so hard, that some real life event inspired it and the strip is based , very loosly, on something that happened in real life.

Otter is too small to go on trips in the car without a car seat. Also they have to take him or deal with drama for not getting proper snacks when they go to the grocery store, so hence the battle to get him in the car seat

That's close to my reaction about going to the store in general. Not only do you have to spend precious time out of your day, it always costs way too much money, then you gotta unpack it all from the car after you get home when all you wanna do is relax.
