but once after a flight back home from Copenhagen
i opened my backpack i had with me on the flight
and at the bottom i found my Leatherman Surge, which i forgot to put in checked luggage : o

How long are the blades on that one? I couldn't find a decent description of that.. and they allow up to 6cm blades IIRC. But I had the Super Tool 300 model and that is not even close to "just" 6cm :)

Yeah.. I had the same experience when flying from Munich to Manchester.. they asked me to turn on and later take the lens off my camera to see it's working and not filled with explosives, but they didn't seem to care about the SOG Multitool I accidentally put into hand luggage.
On the return trip, the British air security didn't really care much about anything in my hand luggage, but they detained me for several minutes to scan my shoes with different devices. WTF?!

I knew for a fact that a certian pair of shoes beeped in the metal detector... so when I tried to put them into the box, the lady at the Cyprus airport just waved and said to go on with the shoes... *BEEEP* - I prepare to be checked, the guy at the metal detector waves me past too.
