Mick and I went back and forth to try and get that throat right, there's no good refs out there for open dolphin throats XD
I made a sphincter like version too which was pretty interesting, but I definitely like this one better, it's much more accurate. Could show you the other one sometime though :)

ahhh. of the ones I found, I think only ONE was open somewhat. it looked like the top of a funnel with a wide opening. sortof like a big slab of muscle on the top that just lifts, and isn't a sphincter. one sec... http://mseap.wikispaces.com/file/vi.....phineating.jpg You have to zoom in a bit and maybe turn up the brightness, but you can see that it's open in this pic. http://www.strangecosmos.com/images.....ent/161610.JPG this one is an orca, but they're close cousins and might be fairly similar? http://www.fieldandstream.com/files.....se-dolphin.jpg Actually, I think this mouth is also open but the angle makes it so you can't see directly down. Just sortof opens up like a big tube...
