Even more fun is to snap them apart and then reassemble.
But the really worse thing you can do is to swap 2 of the squares, and then twist it randomly. Give it to an 'expert' and ask them to solve it. Stand back and watch the frustration with an 'unsolvable' cube :) :)

I was given a cube like that a long time ago; it was only when I tried to solve the red side that I realised that someone had taken the stickers off and put them back wrongly -- I had a corner with three reds on it. I gave up at that point.
I do have a cube now, but I can only solve it if I follow a page of algorithms with diagrams; haven't got around to memorising them.

I believe 'God's Number' is now 20, proved in 2010 through extensive computer calculations. Still, I'm really terrible at logically working my way through it; I can't visualise the result of a move on a Cube'; for example, I have two layers solved, and I need to move and rotate the corners on the last layer to put them into position for the final solving. I also tend to forget halfway through a complicated sequence what I'm up to, so I have to start solving from step one again.
I saw a guy back in the college I went to.. he used really high quality grease in his so he could just nudge one side and it would rotate it. Everyone just called him "Cube" cause he'd just glance at it once in a while as he spun it the whole time, solving any Rubix Cube puzzle in seconds. Was crazy x.x
That is crazy! I'm a collector of puzzles myself, I can never do anything fast though, or without looking. My current fascination is with cuboid shapes, when scrambled up they have odd appearances and are a real challenge to solve, like this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2eR2tvD7tw
If you think the basic Rubik's cube is a brain breaker, then look at these advanced models and weep for your sanity.

I find the 7x7x7 quite pointless. If you can solve a 4x4x4 and a 5x5x5, you know all the algorithms to solve arbitrarily large cubes. They don't get mathematically more complex just because they're larger.
Personally, I find the 6x6x6 to be the ultimate cube, because it caps the complexity of the 'simple' cubes, it can stand in for any cube from 2x2x2 up to 5x5x5, and the fact that there's no center piece on the faces (like there is on all odd-numbered cubes) means that you can make much neater patterns. Hah, I lol'd at "weep for your sanity" but yeah, some of that is just wrong.
I liked http://i01.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/.....magic-cube.jpg
And by liked, I mean it caused the most weeping.

Sometimes, you're almost finished solving the Cube, when you lose track of what you're doing, and the result is a scrambed Cube again like this.
I've had a Rubik's Cube since 1981. All the stickers fell off from playing with it so much. I replaced them with Letraset stick-on letters. Whenever I see a scrambled cube, I feel a compulsion to solve it. I've refined my technique in recent years, but it's still not as fast as the methods shown in the various published cube-solving books. It's not that hard, once you know how.

I feel the same compulsion :D
I refined my method towards the direction of using as few different algorithms as possible. I get by with only 4 different basic algorithms (and a few minor variations of those), and I solve all but the last layer of arbitrarily large cubes with only a single 7-move algorithm.

Whenever I see "almost....almost...", I think of this clip. Can't help it.

The rubix cube, the ultimate sanity test. When i was 15 back in the 80's, I could solve one in a little under a minute but now at 42..forget it. I can still solve one but it takes me forever to do so however if it happens to be a hacked cube which i'm afraid that foxie might have...might as well put it down
They used to have a cube for the colorblind that had numbers in addition to the colors which made it even more maddening that was unless you were color blind O.o
