Been really meaning to make one of these for a long time. I knew there had been several "bird bird" bases out there so I wanted to sculpt mine with a bit more gryphon/land predator feel.
The avian influence was a mix between a marshal eagle, a golden eagle, and a red tail hawk. I'm thinking of taking 5 pre-orders with a 6th base ready to fur. All 5 would be cast and trimmed. Scored along the mouth and tear ducts for easy cutting. I kept the beak tip blunted in order to make it kid friendly (in case any of 'the big birdies' were to nibble a little finger). The main beak is pre-glossed and would come in black or white currently. Everything else is a sculpted matte. Fit would generally be around 4-4.5 inch pupil to chin. Any larger and the lower jaw cup area can be cut (pre-scored as well) to allow for larger heads :3 Suitable for 32-36 mm eyes.
I'm needing to order materials so casting wouldn't happen till the end of this month. if I gain enough interest here I will make a journal taking slots at $80 per blank. May auction the ready to fur blank. But anyways, first bird!!

Beautiful! Really nicely shaped and defined.
Very tempted by this, it even looks like it could do a bearded vulture justice too, i know their beaks are more lengthened but its very hard to find soemone who could make a custom vulture resin head to this degree >.> would it be possible to convert/use one of these to imitate a BV?

im curious, would you ever consider opening commissions for different custom resin blanks? and i dont mean fully finished, but like of a specific species.. im looking for a specific blank to use for my fursona Esben, but all the blanks that may possibly work are too canine..
I have thought about it yes, but until the weather warms up past temps similar to Hoths, it wouldn't be a very good deal with the delay in cure times. (Resin and silicone slow and possibly cause cure inhibition in colder temps). Out of curiosity, what's the species you're needing?
