Custom Character Clothing Palette for Photoshop
This is something I put together for my own use while coloring the second Peter & Company book. I have built-in swatches for main character colors (fur, hair, etc.), but for characters whose clothing changes between story arcs, I found myself always reopening previous pages to resample them and keep the colors consistent.
To eliminate those extra steps, I put together this quick & dirty color palette chart, which is entirely customizable and can be downloaded for your own use here in PSD format.
The PSD file linked above comes premade with 10 slots for individual pieces of clothing. You can relabel them and fill the swatches as needed between story arcs to keep track of things. Also, at the bottom there are three "Sample Bars" which you can use to add additional slots and expand the list as required.
For my own use, I keep the blue bars as main clothing colors, while the greens are for each article's shadow tone. The orange bars I keep for fur/hair shadow hues that are not included in my main character swatches. I also separated out a section for environmental hues (building colors, trees/bushes/grass, props, etc.).
So that's it! I hope you all get some good use out of this! Just zoom it out and keep it to the side of your main window to grab samples from as you work.
