It mostly depends on the markers but also on the paper you use. Basic papers tend to make the ink dry too quickly and then you'll get lines on larger surfaces Myself I use thicker paper so the ink won't dry or bleed or even go through the paper.
Also, it is important to practice with layers. The more you color a surface, the darker it will be, and the less lines you'll get. I tend to make use of this in my pictures.
