From my recent journal:
Now for spiders. I love them. I don't squish them. If I find them in the house, I either leave them alone or relocate them in the garage or outside depending of the type of spider. Well, I found one in the kitchen above the stove. Most people would squish them...
I put the little visitor in a glass covered with clear wrap (holes poked in of course), and tossed in a small piece of a wet sponge (a new sponge, not used). Poor girl was thirsty as all get out. When she realized it was full of water she stuck herself on there and got her fill. She'll be going into the garage shortly, but at least she has water in her system! If I had one of those little bug guns I would try to get her some live prey to put in the glass...it's definitely on my wish list.
I'm not entirely sure what kind of spider she is. She is definitely a prowling spider, so no pretty webs...and she isn't a jumping spider. Not a recluse for sure, she's not the right body shape and the markings are different...hmm...I guess I have some research to do!
Well I did some research and I'm pretty positive that she's a Hacklemesh Weaver based on the body structure, markings, and what I've observed of her so far since she's made a home in my glass. She's curled up at the top and made herself a little home. I'm about to put her in the garage and hope it's not too cold. @.@"
