here we go, the first picture of the contents of my good bag, As you cans see almost everything is in a container of it's own, separated out into packages. The few things that are not, (the paracord and Mora for example) have pockets they fit into in the pack or are self contained enough to not need packages which add weight to as I said in the least section to a system which is already a little heavy.
Starting with "Clothing" emergency clothing is important, a good waterproof jacket can save your life not to mention add another layer of protection from cold. So the Gortex jacket there which I inherited from my father when he got something "better." It's a perfectly good system, I just wish it wasn't in Forest camo and was Multicam or something similar, my area has very few areas where forest camo works year round. But it was free and who can argue with that? Next is the fleece, I literally picked this up at Walmart for like 10 dollars. An extra layer of insulation is great if your stuck somewhere or if the weather suddenly comes in and you need to keep warm. I have a couple more articles of clothing but they are kept in other packages so I will go over them when I get to the package in question.
The Combustion package is pretty self explanatory, I keep my fire starters and emergency signaling devices in it. This package obviously doesn't include any fire starters I might have on me to begin with, I usually carry a lighter for example in my pocket and sometimes matches for those days I feel like smoking my pipe.
Other stuff package, well yea it's a bad name but there is literally tons of stuff in there that I wouldn't live without in an emergency situation. The details of the package will be gone over in 2 pictures later on because of how much there is.
The Cover Package, hard to tell what that it but to me "Cover" and "Shelter" are the same words. that is my emergency shelter kit.
Klean Kanteen, what can I say, stainless steel container which I can boil water in and store it in. and a nesting cup which i can make food in or brew up something in, will be honest more likely than not I would boil the water in the nesting cup then put it into the kanteen to act as a separation from "clean" and "dirty."
My cordage is pretty basic compared to some of the other packs I have seen, one type of cord and zip ties for if I need to quickly put something together or need to restrain someone. Heavy duty zip ties work great as impromptu flexy-cuffs at a fraction of the cost I might add. The paracord is the standard military 550 stuff with 7 internal strands. I love this stuff with no mistake, it will do anything you ask and if super easy to use, I keep it here in two colors, emergency orange and the "Multicam." I like to have both because if I'm in need of help I can use the EO and if I want to stay hidden I can use the Multicam, both are equally useful if i don;t care either way lol.
The Mora Bushcraft is an amazing knife, would it be the only knife in my optimum system? no, I would probably have something larger and heavier to do my wood processing with and use the Mora to prep food or really fine wood working. But if it's all I got I will not be sad, great knife and a really good cost. If you need a knife for survival you cannot go wrong with a Mora.
