Thought some folks might be interested in a step by step of the painting I"m currently working on.
Just laying down the lines for the stone work. I like the idea of delicate peacock feathers hammered out in stone. It does mean a certain amount of underpainting so I don't lose the lines. After this I washed in over the lines with the background colours (which I really should have taken a shot of!). Then I shading the feathers, more washes over, more shading, repeat, repeat, add in highlights, repeat and add in highlights. Spatter paint onto the stone work, work in cracks and detailing.
