That was the client's idea from the start, actually. It was a super-simple concept, but as you can imagine, thumbnailing it until it worked in a good composition took me forever! Based on the environment, composition, and the direction of the fox's look, I was eventually able to make something that sold the concept.
Mmmm, this is one of my favorite kinds of paintings; strong composition with offscreen elements, it tells a story about the relationship between the subjects, impressionist texture, and yummy yummy colors. You did a great job playing the warm and cool tones off of each other, and I like how you have little touches of orange in the blue areas, and blues in orange. It's very effective for tying the composition together.
