Another entry in my "gifts for cool artists where their white character is leaning against another of their characters in dappled sun" series, haha.
This one's for
cubi, who does exceptionally rad character work. Also,
flir who is exceptionally rubber and/or melty U_U
I started to figure out a couple of new things when doing the previous piece for Grau that I wanted to practice/reinforce, hence the very similar image.
Also trying to speed up and let my brushes do more of the work for me, which explains why some parts are pretty wonky, haha. On to more practice!

Loving the lighting on this one , especially the complimentary combo that's used on the light patches.
personally I think the background - BACKground , could do with a little less contrast/more atmospheric fog , to show depth or something similar. Just trying to throw in some stupid feedback <w>;
gorgeous work as always !

Thanks for the thoughtful comment! Not stupid at all, and I totally agree re: the background.
The rocks were initially much closer, but other compositional issues I was running into led me to add that rock arch in the middle-ground, which pushes the rocks in the back waaay further back. At that point, they definitely need less detail/more atmo, but rather than fix it, I just kind of slapped some finishing touches on and hit "post," haha.
I think the things I specifically set out to practice in the image worked out well enough, so I'm calling it a successful exercise, but there are definitely aspects I would change, too. That can be what I focus on practicing with the next piece!

This picture has a number of levels of interestingness. At first glance, you only see the bunny, then you think it's a quiet reflective piece. And then you see the panther, so it must be two friends chilling. Then you realise the panther is melting, and it brings into question whether the panther is a figment of the bunny's imagination. This picture was fun to look at, and is a good example of how images can be deeper than just one glance.
Aw, thanks!
Like I say, I'd like to start letting them do a bit more of the lifting, but there are bound to be more and less successful experiments along the way. Not to mention, after using one or two brushes exclusively for so long, it's going to take a while to get familiar with how these new additions to my toolkit behave <3

KAMUI I can't even begin to express how much I adore this! To get such an absolutely gorgeous gift from an artist I admire so darn much.. When Flir went to show me, he goes 'are you ready to have your day made?'.. Aaand he was right. Thank you so much, we both love it and, just.. Wow. Thank you.
