This was the first engine I picked up at the Pheonix train show. Now I have both 119 and Jupiter. For those of you who don't know, Jupiter and 119 were the two engines that were both present when the famous Golden Spike was pounded into the rails, joining the Central Pacific with the Union Pacific, thus creating the First Continental Railroad.

those 'balony slicer' flanges, are probably one of the reasons someone advised you against getting the french pacific and this 440. they would be a problem on switches if you went to finer scale rail, but as long as you're running on code 100 they shouldn't be a problem. and they could always be ground down finer or replaced if you ever decide to go to code 70 or code 83.
they must be just prejudiced against furign stuff then.
i've known a lot of train people who were, which i never could understand.
but then most are interested in what they think they know.
never entirely understood that either.
i'm interested in what could be, more then what is or was.
