One of the options to summon from D&D's 1st level spell, 'Summon Monster I' is a 'Celestial Giant Fire Beetle'. Wasn't sure what it looked like, to be honest, and was kinda surprised it was listed as one of the 'good aligned' extra planar monsters a Cleric could bring through.
Soooo ... did a little research (wasn't aware that a 'fire beetle' was actually a kind of 'click beetle' with glowey spots on its shell, aka Cucujo), and I'd been looking at some the week before just browsing insects without realizing it.
The 'Celestial' template just means its 'good aligned' and comes from the outer planes (Heavens, Paradises, Happy Hunting Grouds, Elysium, etc.), and tends to be much fancier, more 'glorious' somehow, than its material world counterpart.
I don't know if I managed 'glorious', but its got glowey bits and a bit more 'pretty' than the base animal.
***
Anyways, I find it vaguely amusing, the player playing a jackal priest in my game just happens to summon one of these things to fight the undead 'husk' insects of the adventure he's on.
