MOONFUR AND OTHER TALES is a collection of my very best fantasy and science fiction short fiction. All the tales within were previously published professionally, but many of the magazines and ezines featuring them no longer exist. So here they are collected together for the first time!
Admittedly, only 2-3 of the eight stories within are anthropomorphic, depending on definition, for those who care about such things. Plus two of the stories take place in the same fantasy world as the "Fantasy Envoy" series, but are a bit more PG. All are worthwhile reads, though, so check out MOONFUR AND OTHER TALES when you get the chance. = )

Well, I hope you enjoy the book! = )
And yeah, since this was an anthology I thought it didn't really need a cover that was necessarily connected to any of the stories, so I just looked through some of my old stuff to see what would make a good cover. I had to touch it up a bit, but I think it turned out well.
I have no idea about ereaders, really. I just write the stuff and read stuff I have to off my PC. But I haven't heard much about KOBO either way.

Sorry it didn't meet your expectations then.
Books of mine with more positive endings include SELKIE, MARIONETTE, THE MAD KING'S ROAD and DRYAD. CIRCE'S PETS does kind of have a dark ending. The rest kind of have endings that are in between, often what I'd call bittersweet endings.

Most of it was at least okay, the first story was a good cyberpunk/super story, which seemed out of place with a title like Moonfur.
The mother dragon tale was at least cute, but there was a Whammy in the book. A story that put a sea-change in looking at your worlds. I am speaking of Maiden Lure. Laran's tale turned Unicorns from Protectors to Predators, Turning the Mad King's Road to the Highway to Hell. It's hard to look at Unicorns the same way again. I don't want to revisit a world where a maiden has been left a mindless husk per Unicorn. What's scary is that you used to have a website by that name, So you've had this story for some time and only now inflicted it on us.
I did find some mirth in some of the other stories, nicknaming a man with brittle bones as "Crunchy" was smirkworthy, and it was a neat turn of the wheels of justice to see his eventual fate. I could have done without the Fuel is Expensive, Martyrs are Cheap story, and the whole book was mercifully short at 126 pages. I did like the last title story, but still. Maiden Lure overshadows nearly everything else in the book with it's weight. I will be taking the offramp from the King's Road / Highway here. I would not be able to enjoy the next novel without thinking of the events here. I will still look forward to the tales of the Boiler Lords you spoke of for Shattered Sky two. (imagine a spider swarm type of life form with coconut crabs instead). See you then!

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I understand. No worries.
But I also feel I should not shy away from dark stories or dark outcomes where I think they fit the story. It would be disingenuous of me as a storyteller if my story worlds had no real darkness or people that fall victim to such.

There are plenty of hostile beasties you could put in your stories instead of twisting Unicorns. Kelpies would happily filled the bill, Devil Dogs and other forest frights. Selkies could lure a man to losing his heart, and the male selkies were also fond of luring maidens away.

and that does not even cover werewolves, trolls, vampires, ogres, not to mention hostile elves and dwarves. Orcs are thing to do if you don't mind straying into tolkien style stories. so. many things to darkly inhabit a world. Will you twist a normally evil thing to goodness for balance?
