As she is still young and somewhat sheltered, everything is still very new and exciting to Lizzie. One of her favorite things to do is to go outside and discover the world around her, along with her friend, Ruxie.
Unsurprisingly, Ruxie is partially based on Teddy Ruxpin, and the title and inspiration of this picture is a song from Teddy Ruxpin.

Note, that's actually my video, and so if you watch it you can see my very own Teddy and Grubby ^^

Oh, yay! It's so nice to see Lizzie all happy and eager to see what all there is to see!
I also must blush over how, in my image of her, I made an oops with her hair and feet. *kushi-kushi*
Very lovely use of color and posing. You can almost hear a song coming on as she is making this pose. Perhaps the very song from your video! :)
Sorry it took me FOREVER to get to this. All the work stuff has sapped my inspiration and I didn't want to comment when my brain wasn't in the proper mindset to do so.
You do wonderful work, Skye. I do hope to see more like this soon. :)

She is, for me, my favorite of your cast. She makes me think a lot of myself.
Personally, I know what it is like to feel neglected, ignored, and feel unwanted. Though, at the same time, really wanting to be a part of something, show I'm more than what I appear to be, and a good, independent learner.
Just as I wish I could hug Spike from MLP: FiM for how I know how it feels to be him, I'd love to hug Lizzie to let her know that, "It's okay. There are people who understand and will love you. Starting with me."
Next time I try drawing her, I will have to get in touch with you so I can do better at getting her colors and design right. I do my best to be as "Spot On" as possible. Especially for a character I like and double especially for a character that I like in which is created by a very close, and inspirational, friend. :)

I think you make her feelings of lonliness much stronger than they actually are. In reality, it's not the world who shuts her out, but she who shuts the world out on her own free will. And for the most part, she's happy that way. She knows that her family loves her, even if they aren't often around. She is still unaware that her home life is abnormal, and doesn't trust adults that aren't her family. As for other children, she just hasn't experienced being around them much. So if you were to tell her that and give her a hug, she'd just be confused. Alexander though, is the one who needs to be told that.
In that case, I would most certainly be willing to give some support to Alexander. He has definitely been through some difficult times.
*Blush* I apologize for having misinterpreted Lizzie's personality. I appreciate you clearing it up for me, though. I also look forward to learning more about her through future illustrations and journal descriptions.
Do you think you may do another with Alexander? Maybe Skye? Skye seems to be the most jovial of the lot.
It's nice how we can create characters that can represent so many different things. Right now, I would have a very jaded character for representing my day life when I'm at work. A shrouded character covered in chains and wearing a mask as black as a moonless night. The mask preventing words from escaping as he does his best to manage despite the chains the are all about him and the fear his presence brings about.
Or, perhaps more accurate, a character whose right eye always oozes blood. The bleeding never stopping while the eye burns a fiery orange. The amount of blood oozing out depending on the degree of stress and anxiety brought on by the judgment of others.
