This was inspired by an odd Petco-esque warning sign I saw at a person's house that advised people to watch themselves due to their dog that had not yet become housebroken. With that sign in mind, I remembered Puddles here from that one episode of Pound Puppies who, as his name suggests, had a wee problem. This led to the scene where he was temporarily placed in a kiddie pool after one of his little "accidents" caused the FKD to go haywire. The image worked in my head, so I decided to recreate it.
In a way, I relate to the little guy. While I don't have that particular problem, I can very much relate to Puddles' mental state of being so stricken by anxiety at times that it (admittedly) leads to messing up and doing the very mishaps you seek desperately to avoid. (Pathological perfectionism does that to a person.) Really, the episode could serve as a kid-friendly look into pathological perfectionism given the panicky state of both Puddles and his perfect person Sam's parents who were constantly slipping up in their attempts to ensure their talented son made it into a prestigious school. Given that I live with that affliction, I found myself relating to the episode more and more. And it just made it all the more heartwarming when Puddles finally got to be with Sam who ensures he'll do everything he can to make sure the little guy gets over that problem.
Also, Puddles is an adorable little dancer. You go, little guy. No, wait, thaT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT-

* Dalmatian pup Patches who shares qualities with Lucky, including heroic aspirations, being the leader of a ragtag group of pups, and a determination for whatever goal he sets before him
* The village indicated by the Doggie Lama (although it was of a different nature, it did share DeVilVille's characteristic of vanishing/trapping those inside it with a happiness-inducing state)
* Pup prone to urination/not fully housebroken (Whizzer/Wizzer and Puddles)
* Pamela Aldon using her Lucky voice for a pup renamed Lucky
* Appearances from other voice actors in the series, such as Kath Soucie (Cadpig, Rolly) as Boots, Tara Strong (Spot, Two-Tone) as Zipper, and so forth
* Both series feature a scheming and dog-hating human often serving an antagonistic role towards the canine protagonists that are revealed to be lonely jerks who do have a nicer side beneath all the scorn and regularly mistreat their employees (Although Leonard McLeish is nowhere near as evil as Cruella De Vil and really could be a bit of a foil to her given how he's pathetically understated compared to her success as a fashion company manager)
