Penumbrate
The Penumbrate controls and protects Olgantha, counting individuals from every common race among their ranks. Soldiers in the Penumbrate guard operate largely in major cities, largely survivors of the last great war, seeking a way to use their skills in warfare to protect their homes and families.
Breastplate: A solidly sculpted piece of metal, breastplate only covers the torso, but that weakness can be rectified by additional bracers (pair), greaves (pair), and a morion helmet at a cost of 250gp (500gp reinforced). The penumbrate officers’ uniform is a modified, reinforced breastplate with bracers, greaves, and a plumed morion helmet all made from mithril and accompanied with their signature plumed longcoat and the Penumbrate knapweed striped camouflage over the flexible underplating covering the middle. This specialized armor halves ballistic damage and turns critical hits to the head into normal hits and cannot be purchased but can be acquired by succeeding up the ranks of the Penumbrate guard.
Scale: Scale mail consists of several dozens of overlapping metal scales covering the torso in a tunic and comes with a pair of leather gauntlets and greaves to protect the limbs and a capeline helmet to protect the head. The Penumbrate guard is equipped with a special suit of scale armor made from mithril including the leather gauntlets, greaves, and capeline helmet which are hardened in molten mithril and lined with mithril scales, decorated with the Penumbrate knapweed striped camouflage which can be acquired by passing the Penumbrate guard exam.
GUA
The GUA are an all elf paramilitary group off-shoot of the Penumbrate who are unsatisfied and suspicious of the Penumbrate group for their hold on the economy of the continent of Olgantha. Though they largely operate in the wild parts of the world and rarely in large metropolises, their goals are often questionable as they have little disregard for the lives of citizens that may be caught in the crossfire and have no qualms about taking hostages or using torture to advance their means. Some in the Penumbrate see the GUA as one public massacre away from terrorists.
Half-plate: Half-plate armor combines the defensibility of full-plate with the flexibility of chainmail and comes with bracers and greaves to protect the limbs and a frog-mouth sallet to protect the head. The grunts of the GUA paramilitary operation called “Devas” wear an especially decorative suit of steel half-plate that replace the chainmail for joint coverage with the same specialized mesh as Odin armor and can be acquired by joining their ranks.
Full-plate: Full-plate is all about full coverage with minimal in-between armoring to cover gaps and joints and comes with bracers and greaves to protect the limbs and a visored armet helmet to protect the head. The ranking officers of the GUA paramilitary operation called “Odin” wear an especially lavish suit of steel half-plate that cover gaps with a specialized mesh derived from harvested webworm silk (which is considered to be at least as strong as chainmail) that is weaved into their lizard-stripe camouflage uniform for maximum coverage while eliminating chaffing and also features the prominent, plumed crest on their gilded armets. This armor can be acquired by moving up the ranks of the GUA paramilitary group.
