This was the second of two pieces that were inspired by Valentine's Day this year. Whereas the other one was a highly focussed screed, this one is more a free-verse vomiting onto the page.

What a mockery of love. You are mostly right from what I see. As I grew up even until today, I've seen shows and commercials trying describe what it really is. Recently, there's a show called "Love Triangle" where a woman or man comes on with two others to decide which one she will be with in 30 minutes. Now, it seems that Good Friday and Easter have far more to say about love than Valentine's Day (not to get too religious here, if you'll excuse me please). St. Valentine was apparently a man risking his life to marry Christian couples in the Roman Empire, a martyr. It's true we've confused love for it's lesser shadow of lust, but I can still see a glimmer of hope in my daily life. To be honest, I only found one good love poem during Valentine's Day. =\
I tend to take that even further in that I've said more than once that a truly GOOD love poem or erotic poem is as rare as the Hope Diamond.
There's a reason why I've not attempted love poetry since my teens.
99.9% of all the attempts at "love" poetry I see right here on FA for example make me want to either laugh, hurl, or do both at the same time. :P
