Zap Apple season was once again in full swing in Ponyville, and Moona Fortuna was never one to miss out. While she was in town, for it wasn't often that she visited the village, Moona gathered a small cloud of local bat friends to share the bounty. After paying her respects (and bits) to the Apple's, the cheerful bat pony flew into the orchard, settled into a cosy spot for her dinner and prepared to enjoy.
First one zap apple found it's way into her belly, then two more. It was about the time that the fourth was headed into her mouth that she noticed her bat friends had not partaken. Confused, she inquired about their hesitance. She had purchased at least a dozen to enjoy. All the little bats could do was stare into the distance. Following their line of sight, Moona Fortuna was startled to find that they were not alone!
Blending into the darkening shades of twilight was another pony, dusky in color, but with flaming hair like the setting sun. She watched the group in silence, her face unreadable. She wasn't feasting like Moona had done. Perhaps she was just resting before the onset of night.
Moona looked towards her zap apple, still unbitten. She gazed at the pony. Back to the apple. With the widest smile she could manage, Moona offered her prize and her friendship. Her toothy grin spread even further as a slow smile crept across the other bat pony's face, kindling a spark of hope between them.
