Music is Life and Death
Natoli:
I felt like I have to draw this...
Music is all my life and this can be so great and satysfying and yet it can also be so painful.
Success and failure. Failures hurt even more when it comes to perform and something is going wrong, eh?
Also, it would be great to have scythe which is a harp at the same time xD

That scythe - harp reminds me of the weapon Nevan from devil may cry 3; an electric guitar that can change into a scythe.
This is a big change for your gallery - never seen a bloody piece from you before, I don't think. It's definitely gonna stand out among the rest of your art... and yet, you've put just as much of your skill into this one as any other.

I love inspired postings around musings on different topics, and it's something there's very little of, there's a lack of such discussion in personal journals of artists but even much less so in art. I think very highly of you for doing this.
I believe that the magic of music is that it's dynamic, active, and portable.
Where a piece of art can indeed say a million words, it's not much of a journey since all of it is laid out before you. Music flows, it has motion. If it wishes to say something, it can draw you in, bewitch you, before exploding in your heart. It constructs a feeling.
Music doesn't wait for you to do the work of looking at all the details, analyzing, or searching. It brings it to you - all the emotion it wants to communicate. Your senses do not have to hunt for it. It comes to you.
Finally unlike a piece of art, a movie, or a sculpture, music can be carried anywhere and will weave its magic on its own in the background.
Music is an architect of emotions, a mystical man walking up to you to tell you a story, a spirit you always be by your side wherever you are.
I normally do not voice opinions this long, but I felt it inviting to echo back my own musings in respect for the fact that you have spilled out your own.

Oh, glad you appreciate :)
I would add something more to your brilliant comment :)
Music can kill. I mean - music is this tricky, that this is created 'on the eyes and ears' of the audience. Unlike like picture, it is done in home, noone sees and you show the final effect. Purpose of music is to make it life, if you get what I mean :)
This is beautiful, but risky, this can cause some unpleasant situations. A fail or something. This fail can be obvious or not. But this leaves a wound in your heart and can eventually kill your invention and creativity
Thanks for this comment ^^

I have felt this side of music yes. Much like a tool, it can serve both purposes. To me right now it is a scalpel. I am undergoing some major transformations which, at this age, is quite difficult. But I've decided to change myself. To that end, I use meaningful music frequently, on my way to work, or at work. Oftentimes it hurts and brings me to tears, even as I have to wipe them discretely. But it keeps reminding me what I've set out to do and pushing me on. Little by little, part of me dies, and a new part of me takes its place. I've found no other form of art that can do this passively so well. Does it interfere with my activities? Yes. But it is a voluntary sacrifice.
You're welcome. All works of art that express oneself are deserving of a viewer's journey where they leave part of themselves at the entrance and take on the messages the artist is trying to conjure. I like to take a moment and assess what I see thoughtfully. :)

...as I said earlier, art requires an active pursuit of information. And on that note, I only just now noticed that the body of the scythe also has its own duality, it's shaped like a quill yet at the back end has what looks like the hilt of a sword.
"When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest." ~Henry David Thoreau
I leave this quote here because I discovered it through one of Two Steps From Hell's official videos, whose songs are very representative of the plenthora of powerful emotions your picture describes.

That's how you play some sharp tunes...and if the audience doesn't like it, no problem. Just chop 'em up with it. Who's to say you're not playing some bloody good music? XD
But humour aside: great work! That scythe-harp looks wild, and the picture's a bit more gorey than I prefer. But I understand the metaphor...though not a music performer myself, but I envy those who are...even if it's not as easy as it looks most of the time :)
