I stole a glimpse of this Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit, NS 8100, commemorating the Nickle Plate Road while laying over in the Etna Yard on my way home from work today. (Feb. 19, 2014)

I raced home but missed it going through town. So I hop-scotched about 10 miles up the Allegheny River to Creighton, PA where I took these shots with my Canon 300D and new Cannon EFS 18-135IS lens.

This shot is up close and personal taken at the crossing I had parked at, just as NS 8100, and it's companion NS 8088, were about to roar passed. Heritage units are so shiny and clean looking compared to the standard black and white "ponies" which provide the backbone of their fleet of diesel locomotives. NS8100 is an ES44AC model locomotive.
