The Barani Class Heavy Destroyer is an upgraded variant of the Bandow Class Destroyer and much like the Bandow Class, the Barani is meant to work in packs of 3 to 5 destroyers during combat to neutralize larger or more dangerous enemy targets. During the TNG era, the USS Brookfield, the second vessel of the Barani Class helped to fend off the Borg in a ramming attack after 92% of the crew had been killed.
