Raikonian Overture
And now, folks, for a new little song that was inspired by my friend Aelius's "Legend of the Sages" story. It's a little sentimental orchestral song, very beautiful song, and of course a beautiful story would deserve beautiful music.
Well, here we go. Ready, Snow Leopard Orchestra? *taps baton* One, two, three, four....

YES! I DID IT! *throws baton in the air* I've done it. I knew the climax of the song (are those the "epic vocals"?) would be fitting. I've been trying to find the perfect sound for this story of yours, and I finally found it! *baton dinks me on the head* Ow.
I can imagine the opening titles for the movie: a montage of scenes from the story and it ends with the camera going up the side of a mountain in the North and over the summit (the music climaxes here) revealing the North Mountains where the monastery is. The music ends with Master Wensin walking to where Akosha is practicing her katas and swinging her mighty scythe of Verrocite.
I think I may have taken inspiration from Harry-Gregson Williams; he scored The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Now if only I had a real orchestra to play this... or maybe if I had the sound libraries that Bjarne O. has, I could get a similar sound.
Thank you.

What does that mean? Is your vision changing? Are you....
Nah. He couldn't possibly... Could he? I mean that's how he saw it growing up and all; he may still be appalled by CGI and it's rather sad that that is a popular animation medium nowadays. Well, I guess I'll have to wait for him to reply....

Oh, my.... We all change, do we? So, uh... you'd be willing to see your characters (exact replicas of your drawings) in CGI then? By the way, if your story is going to be a movie, you'll have to drape something over Akosha's butt. I can imagine children coming to see it. XD
Maybe we could make flashbacks to historical events in 2D animation. What say you, Aelius?

LOL, yeah, Akosha (and most of the others) would definitely have a back-cloth :p She may end up with one anyway if I can nail some of these other outfit designs in my head.
I suppose CGI wouldn't hurt, as long as they look like they could be real, breathing characters (I think I stated a while back that Horton was a good benchmark for CGI cartoons).
Historical events, eh? Well I haven't planned any in the current story, but it's still pretty flexible at this point so anything is possible.

You can also find music of his on YouTube (I found Master Vangelis on Rhapsody). "Chung Kuo" from his China album is my favorite song this today (I found it on YouTube, though) and I can also imagine it being in Kung Fu Panda. Say, if Po falls in love with someone he meets, maybe Master Tigress, then the song would play the moment he saw the girl.
That's why I composed this song. I see this song being the opening titles of Aelius's story, The Legend of the Sages, as a movie.
I've always imagined what the story would be like as a movie, even before he uploaded the opening chapter here. (Go to his page and read it if you dare to be blasted out of this world. It's a wonderful WIP.)

Amazing, simply breathtaking. I... don't really know what to say, except that it'd be perfect in a movie. But you already know that, since everyone else already said it. And it was the purpose of this song. xD
It almost gave me shivers. Damn fine piece of music, I must say. Instant fav and now, you're on my watch list.

This song functions as part of a film score, yes. It should be for my friend Aelius's story, "The Legend of the Sages." I've always tried to find a good sound for it using my music production software, Propellerheads' Reason, but that was before I read this excerpt:
I'll also be getting some sound libraries by EastWest Studios and I'll be remaking this song using the sounds in those libraries. It will sound more like a real orchestra and choir. The choir will also sing: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1267497/ I really was smitten and mesmerized by the excerpt, and after waiting so long to read the story. The... the story sounds so beautiful and so fanciful and I guess Aelius's pictures are what made it that way. I feel far from my home when I read, although that's where my body is; that's one thing that makes the story concept so wonderful. It also influenced the naming of this month of May as Sage May, in which I am mostly listening to classical music, scouring deviantART for pictures of Terragen landscapes and viewing them like a Romantic-Period writer views a wild landscape, and playing this song while watching a video of the DreamWorks Animation SKG logo.
I think I may also write a song to go with what happens in that excerpt.
"La cavalla della notte
cammina verso l'est,
facendo i nuovi amici
mentre va."
That's Italian for "The mare of night walks eastward, making new friends as she goes." The mare is Akosha Terias, the main character of Aelius's story. I'm really psyched about reading the rest of the story; all I have to hold me over while he writes is my own vision of how the story goes which I've had since July of last year (it's been altered since I read the excerpt). I also have a novel of my own to write, too, but mine has more serious themes.
Thank you very much, Shirou. I knew you'd like this.

Wow.
I mean... I'm really taken aback by the somber beauty and melancholy of this piece. This is lovely, I could listen to it for hours. Perfect balancing out the very high mallet instrument with a low choral wash and the singing string... and oh god, the 2:15 splitting of melody into harmonies, followed by the full 2:51 choir taking over...
This is just fantastic.

Thank you very much. I listen to it almost every day. My favorite part of the song is near the end where the music climaxes (a very epic sound and chord progression).
One of these days, I'll make the choir sing Italian. I'll also make the song really sound more like an orchestra (this is just Orkester sounds).
Have you read the excerpt of my friend's story, Tomcat? Although it has two spelling errors, the whole excerpt is a very splendorous read. Aelius describes like Charles Dickens, too.
I have an idea for music to go with what happens in the excerpt but I feel that I'll need more sounds for it. If I were going to write the soundtrack for my friend's novel if it becomes a movie (which it may after its release), it would have to be orchestral with some world music mixed in. A beautiful and faniful story needs beautiful and fanciful music.
By the way, I'm listening to another famous song of mine right now: Call of the Tundra. Did I ever tell you about it?
