Momo passed away today. My first rat, my sweet girl and my precious babbu, who I rescued as a little tyke from the snake-food bin at a podunk petstore... Everyone who met you loved you, even those who didn't like rats or hairless animals. You washed everyone's hands for them because the silly humans don't know how to properly wash hands. You were the big sister, the sweetest companion I could ask for. I'm glad that I got to have you in my life.
It was no trouble to care for you, ever, and I'm glad that you're finally at peace.
Enjoy rainbow bridge, sweet girl, and climb in the sun and eat all the things. I love you.

I'm sorry for your loss Sal. I wish you all the best so that you can get through this hard time. *hugs* She will always be with you but take comfort in knowing she's not hurting anymore and you don't have to see her in pain. I'm sure she loved you very much. An she will be missed.
At least you and Momo made each others' lives special. I will not say the pain will go away if you get another, as I'm sure we both know it'd be a lie. You loved Momo, and it's clear that Momo loved you. From the day you saved the poor dear to this very moment, Momo has held a big spot in your heart, and although it might feel empty now and might do so for a very long time, it never will be. Those we love will never leave us, and once they leave, they will always be in our hearts. So do not feel sad that Momo is gone; be happy that you made her life as perfect as could be.
RIP Momo. You sure earned it.

I'm sorry for your loss, as well.. I'm going to start feeding my other little girls occasional treat foods more often because the one thing I regret was that momo didn't get to eat unhealthy food very often... that and she never got to go outside because being hairless made her susceptible to bad weather.
I understand that. I feel they would want us to continue to love and to show another, like them, a good life. There are so many out there that have nobody, and each one that goes to a loving home is one less suffering. That's my way too look at it, with all my animals, the only way to get through loss is to have another to hold. If that makes sense?
Let us know if you get another.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Reading some of your comments about how it doesn't take long for them to find a place in your heart. I think that has to be the truest thing I have heard when it comes to animals. Especially the ones of the rodent variety. I am sorry as I a said before for your loss. But I am glad she had someone as nice as you to watch over her and love her the way she deserved.
I'm going through a similar spot right now as well... my puppy (or as I view him, the second-oldest child, and my oldest brother) is most likely not going to be around any longer by the next time I go home to visit.. Our goodbye didn't feel like it was enough.. to show how much I love him and will miss him... He just hit 12 and has had really bad health issues for the past two months... possibly cancer.. so we're looking at probably not going to be around until Summer..
And with my experience in owning a few rodents, I know EXACTLY what you mean that it doesn't take long. I attach to things quickly - animals, humans, even near strangers - if someone I know's dog, cat, gerbil, or what have you passes away, if I've been given the opportunity to get to know it, even just for a few hours, I get that good old lump in my chest that just doesn't want to go away. Some family friends of ours, whose dog I've pet-sat for four years and known for about 5-6, just lost him.. his name was Sparky, he was a craaaaazy pug~
Don't let it get you down though~ Though I am an atheist and don't necessarily believe in heaven, I do believe we are reunited in passing. The same processes, the same molecular breakdown - we are all one and the same at the most basic level - a collective organism~
