Caves and Critters - Chap 05 Page 41
One of the bigger challenges one faces when drawing furries (those whose species don't have individual-to-individual unique markings anyway) is making sure two characters don't look the same. I (think) I've managed that here, and Karine's grandpa looks like neither a very old Theran, nor Karine in drag. :P
On the topic of cross-breeding; almost all of the furkin, scalekin and airkin races can interbreed. The resulting children can be anything from looking entirely like one parent's race (although with some minor genetic benefits or defects from the other), to looking like a mixture of the two anywhere along the scale between both species. Karine, as a second-generation descendent of the pairing of lion and fox, resembles her own father (who is more lion than fox) more than she does her grandmother.

Am I sensing a possibility of a certain writer trying to play possible cupid for Red and Karine once they get the ring back?
Also, you did a good job with her grandfather He neither looks like Theran (whom I'm waiting patiently to see if he and Karma are finally going to admit to their feelings for each other. Your torture is definitely working on my behalf.) nor does he look like Katrine in that sense.
Also, each writer seems to have their own take on furry cross-breeding ... I like yours where they take certain aspects from both with one side more prevalent.
I've seen one writer design it in his world where male children will take after the dad for their species and females take after the mother. Certain markings between the two might cross over, but yeah.
