Why the lettering looks different:
A friend and peer of mine said it was the only thing they didn't like about the comic so I worked with them to come up with a solution and the result is slicker lettering that I think works better with how the art looks. We're working to re-letter the other pages of this issue so that, when it sees print, there's some consistency chapter wise. I don't necessarily mind the previous chapter looking different as this comic is a work in progress and I also don't plan to go back and re-draw the first issue. If I re-did every part of the comic every time I got better then I'd have to be re-doing the whole thing every couple of pages!

I like how the more I find out, the more questions it has me asking. I like the new lettering, and how you put speech in bubbles and thoughts in rectangles.
Meier is just such a brilliant character because he's so mysterious in many ways as to where his loyalties lie. I think I dare say that he steals the whole thing!

Wow... I'm starting to love Meier as an antagonist... or is he an antagonist? Technically he's moving the story along rather than holding it back. He isn't presenting obstacles but instead plowing through them. That technically would make Leon and his common sense reason the antagonist. Of course it's all a perspective of story. Given the nature of False Start changing the nature of what our first impressions where to begin with, it's very possible the entire nature of the comic will change a second time and suddenly we'll be watching Leon's attempt to escape the depths of this watery prison so he can attend college and redirect this comic back to a spice of life showcase... just before the aliens invade second week of class.
Still, Meier does seem dead set on hiring poor Leon... is there any escape for the poor vul? I mean, he can always just say no, but from what little we know about Meier the billionaire would be very likely to just send someone to abduct him for his first day on the job and/or do everything in his power to sabotage his college career... or possibly something infinitely sneakier like get his son into one/all of Leon's classes, assuming he isn't in them already. Just what is it with Leon's father (Frank Henderson) that has Meier so set on pushing the employment issue? Are my day dreams of Leon being a ninja on the ice ring true, or does it go deeper than that? So many questions, and absolutely no answers.
Also, those bleachers look very empty. Makes me wonder if anyone else is going to be showing up...

Forgive me for being so brazen in saying this- it's your story and characters, after all.
I can imagine, if Meier goes down, it'll be going down fighting, and in such a badass way- grenade held firmly between his teeth, with the pin's loop wrapped firmly around his middle finger, being raised defiantly at the enemy.
(Maybe I shouldn't have said that? It's what fan art is for :P)

I too enjoy the new lettering!
Leon, you don't walk into a secret corporate laboratory that's apparently at least tolerated by the government with an implicit "Shut the fuck up about what you see in here" and then wonder if anything bad would happen to you if you decided to tell the world about it.
I'm just saying, you're lucky that you're cute.
Also, I spy a Dyklon Industries motto in the background of panel 2. What does it say? All I can make out is "everything." Unless that is their motto.
And Meier continues to be a dick. Even Fairbanks doesn't want to put up with his shit!
