More from Oto
This is an embarrassing pic to make.
This is my OC over a span of at least 12 years. And as you can see... It is most definitely an old shame of mine.
The pics are somewhat in chronological order, but as I dated only a couple of them, I have no way of knowing whether one piece was actually made before/after another pic.
As you might have guessed, Oto started as a Diddy Kong recolor named 'Dition', his name would go thru many, namy changes before settling on 'Oto'.
He was obviously a Sonic/Donkey Kong cross-over fan-character, but I tended to insert him in other game/cartoon Franchises that I liked at the time (Mario, TMNT, Bomberman, Gargoyles, even Fire Emblem). >_>
He originally was a monkey but somehow became a gorilla as he matured (yeah...), but eventually I found that silly as I got older and with my growing interests in Tigers at around 2004, I eventually made him into one named 'Mikan'.
He was still exclusively a Sonic character then (though he did have a couple x-overs with Bomberman), but as I left for college in 2005, I grew past the Sonic franchise as well and began diverging Oto further, he was named 'Jiiro' at the time, but again, I quickly got irritated at the name and later changed it to Jernan (2005).
It also around that time that I decided that he should be his own character in his own world and setting, so for the next few years he would undergo fairly radical changes to his design. As this is also when I became interested in Anthro art, I spent much of my time making him less stylized and a bit more mature.
In 2009, I finally settled on his current name 'Oto', and as he's been called that the longest, I can safely declare that this is his permanent name.
The last pic (the bottom left one) is a pic i made just this morning. To show how far I've come (not by much but hey, small steps).
I do have a couple more uploaded previously, those two are definitely newer than the ones found in this pic (2005~2007 at least).
