It wouldn't be very practical, would it?
I'll bet if you were a lifelong sailor, you could end up with a fish and it could work out.
Otherwise, yeah. Not too good.

Just a happenstance wanderer; but they go into that (unfortunately briefly) in the books! There are some aquatic daemons, and it presents the obvious problems, such as being unable to ever leave a boat. No main characters ever do, certainly.
