The Colosseum - Prelude 01
So, here it is the first of several pages for my audition into the Colosseum. Let's hear it for bad puns! Papa Bravado obviously dislikes them. Then again, he doesn't like a lot of things. Or does he?
Either way, the Bravado family's antics always make me smile. How could I not have them come along with Jose? The 'why' for Jose's entry in the tournament will be explained shortly!

I'm a bit confused...
My sister has told me that luchadores aren't supposed to remove their masks or expose their faces while in public...I mean, according to Wikipedia, the whole 'not revealing one's face' thing is merely traditional, so I'm kind of not sure what the verdict on this is...Is Jose breaking the luchadore's code in this first part, or is it more like a guideline thing?

El Toro and his family come from a very nontraditional and unconventional world, and his mask is more a representation of his wrestling/hero self. Yes, luchadores traditionally wear their masks all the time, but superheroes don't. Would it be funnier if he wore it all the time? Sure! Would I consider rewriting his history to include this bit of funniness? Maybe. But I've grown so used to him removing the mask when he's Jose Bravado that I'm not sure I'd want him wearing it all the time, now!
