Here I am now delving further into more of my attempts at Glenn Vilppu's style. I sure hope I’m getting the hang of this which is what I need reassurance with right now because I have no idea if I’m visualising the poses correctly. And once again, I tried not copying from the book and instead imagined some interesting pose ideas. Turns out that they're very tricky to get down properly. It's really slowing down my “speed sketch” attempts.
Also if you haven't figured it out by now, I'm uploading multiple sketchbook pages at once. It's a little idea I've had to show my progress of trying out Vilppu's style multiple times rather than waste time uploading stuff one at a time.
These illustrations represent my progress through Chapter One: Gestures of Vilppu's Drawing Manual with the last picture (the bottom right image) scratching the surface of Chapter Two: Spherical Forms. And yes, I know the circle morphs are out-of-whack. Plus the whole "line of action" fear is still rather confusing for me to comprehend...
Trying out a totally new style of body structure for my furry artwork starting from the beginning and working my way up. But rather than label these pics as my regular Sketchbook Practice features, I decided to upload them as an entirely new series altogether: Vilppu Practice. I feel like I'm going to back hacking away at his style quite a bit, so my progress with said style shall be in its own category. As always, I'm willing to improve, so please don't feel bad critiquing me; it's the only way I'll learn. Thank you very much!
Also... I'm very, very, very sorry about my shitty upload quality. My scanner is not very kind to scanning sketchbook paper still in the book (then again, my camera gave me the occasional crappy shadow issues, too). Any and all help as to how to fix this would be much appreciated.
