I think you did a very nice job, perfect amount of leaves and nothing seems overdone. :) I can only do dead trees, once I try to add leaves it looks like shit. xD What tutorial did you use?

From what the tutorial is showing I'd say you did pretty damn well, the result is quite an appealing effect, if anything you've gone into a bit more detail than the examples you were practicing off of.

The eternal struggle for artistic improvement isn't liable to be a thing which will go away so easily, but at the least I can say you've done nothing wrong really with this piece, you've done as well as if not surpassed the quality you were learning from.

That's the treey-est tree I've ever seen.

Mhhh, well, that tree looks weird. Normally the heaps of leaves would be more mixed because they are trying to reach the light, if the branches can't compete to reach the light they die to benefit the branches that can reach that light. Also, trees growing alone love to let hang they lower branches to reach more light without caring to grow taller, of course if the tree is in a park it maybe is pruned and it doesn't matter. And the trunk looks abruptly cut after the first heap of leaves.

I don't want to be a smartass but I wanted to say what I thought. Maybe a tree is nothing hard to draw comparing it to a body or a face, you certainly will do awesome works with whatever you try.
