Okay, so I started re-watching Sailor Moon, particularly the early episodes...aside from being confused as to why there is 40+ in the first season alone, but only a hand full of story line episodes that mattered. I decided to challenge myself to redesign the senshi, make them a little more modern and combine some of the anime, the manga, conceptual, and my own aspects into each character while keeping true to the feel. Its a lot harder of a project that it sounds. But I think I succeeded. The Outer Senshi are done being drawn and are currently being colored...and I will say they are my favs.

I really wanted to convey their personalities in their style of senshi uniforms and their poses. I always assumed that if 5 or even 10 totally different girls had powers manifest and became warriors of justice, they wouldn't all look the same. So I wanted Mercury to be her demur self, Venus to be the glam cover girl she was, Mars to be the sophisticated lady, Jupiter to the powerhouse with a motherly side, and moon to be...well in my world, a cute girl, but somewhat ditzy...not the airhead cry baby she was in the anime lol

if you venture to Sailor stars, those would be the
real challenge because technically they have no gender, so
you would be re-defining the ultimate androganus super heros...

Technically the Sailor Stars are female, who posed as male on Earth to find their princess. Naoko Takeuchi the creator has stated many times that only females can be sailor senshi throughout the galaxy and keeping that in mind she said the Star Lights can't be male despite what the anime made it appear to be. So I tend to go by her concepts on the matter, androgynous girls masquerading as boys to find a woman. lol
