So, my work boots' heels had worn down to paper-thinness, and I was no longer able to put off re-heeling. But. I hate (utterly loathe and despise) having to take shoes in for repair -- just never had luck finding someone that did the work well and in a timely fashion. What to do?
Hell, I used to make -- and nail on -- Clydesdale shoes fer cryin' out loud, how difficult could THIS job be? Turns out it wasn't. New repair heels are available online, and I ordered the size closest to what I needed; the existing heels were removed from the boots, and the stubs prepared by sanding flat. Repair heels were then marked and cut on the bandsaw and secured in place with Gorilla Glue and small nails. Afterward, everything was trimmed smooth on the belt sander.
Total time, less than an hour, and my outlay was around 7 bucks.
Frugal, accomplished, and ready for many more miles. Happy Horse!
