A tropical bird of the cuckoo family, living from Texas down to Ecuador, the Groove-Billed Anis beak is indicative of a diet of anything from insects to amphibians. Like all anis, they have a weak flight, but are good runners, living in open country and savannahs. During breeding season, they lay their eggs in communal nests with all birds caring for the hatchlings.
