Across the sea from the Care Bears' Kingdom of Caring is another kingdom called Fontis, named so for the crystal-clear waterfalls that power the kingdom. The waterfalls produce a never-ending "fountain" of magic that keep the rainbows in the sky and the evil creatures far away from the mainland.
On any given day you can find Sunshine Dog, Princess "FoxCrown" Cabbit, and HeroHeart Bat romping through the kingdom (and occasionally the Human world)!

I've been meaning to draw our characters in this 80's style for a long time, and (ironically) this comic was the motivation. XD http://www.bearnutscomic.com/2008/0...../01-bear-nuts/
Nyxis's tummy symbol was originally going to be a cracked hourglass, but Samson suggested a crystal heart (which has just as much screwed-up symbolism as the hourglass, but is more subtle).
And Care-Flasia introduces herself as "FoxCrown," but it's actually spelled "FauxCrown," a nod to her true heritage in Blindside.

Nyxis does look particularly adorable there. :)
If I recall correctly didn't the Care Bear cousins (the non-bear animals) live in the Forest of Feelings? Part of the Kingdom of Caring, but some distance from Care-a-lot.
Bright Heart Raccoon was my favorite, not that they went into a lot of character depth with those films.

I don't recall seeing the episodes/movies myself(And I feel like I missed out on something cool there!), so I looked it up on Wikipedia. The canon cousins do live in the Forest of Feelings/part of the Kingdom of Caring. I thought in my personal piece that a separate kingdom where a group of Care Bear Cousins lives that the main cast doesn't know about would be more interesting. =)
The Care Bears films were among those that my younger sisters watched, but I have no shame in saying that I admired the positive messages that the fillmakers worked upon (plus the animation studio was Canadian, YAY!). The animation was pretty good for the 80's too.
