Those were the days, eh? You might wander what became of motels and their novelty. In some cases, budget hotel chains made them go out of vogue. In particular I find what happened in the Salton Sea and it's resorts particularly unsettling.

Motels like these userly are given a slight slezzy feel, this is where the hookers or those couples who want a quicky while on the road would go do

Places like this are still around & still pretty popular, especially with traveling business types. My partner & I lived in a Motel 6 for a few weeks when we first moved to Texas because out house wasn't quite ready for us to move into. It was a nice place, and the staff were very cool & very dog friendly.

This is a great piece. Very nostalgic slice of Americana feel.
