I, Aqua/personified grievances

I am aqua, and I am azure, a
Canny guest, no invite needed
None received, but a singular herald
A melody of the torrential, tapered down
The walls of the townhouses. Now look at them
Run, from me, what abhorrence is this? Jetsam
Jaded, fizzle and hiss in gutters, gateways,
A gaol for the people; incarcerate
Rage the rain.
The pains they take
As they scuttle and rake
fresh trash from their lawns;
The morn’s harvest. With forlorn
Hopes they fled, what whim do they heed
With a bag to a frame and councils to plead?
With train lines asunder and all proprietor’s deeds
Negated by natures transaction?
I take no ransom from the Saxons
No profit, no pillage
But take a pyritic reminder
To a west country village:
Your land, though it be yours,
Divided in parts
Depends on another
Dredge deep in your hearts
The answer’s there.186
