I also dislike it. It's very prevalent among captive raised mantis ladies... It's so hard to raise the girls to not devour their mates. But, what can be done? Girls will be girls!
(still, the males are so hard to come by, it'd be nice if I didn't have to worry about them meeting an untimely demise every time I try to breed them...)
