For a short time, New Republic R&D experimented with the idea of making unmanned versions of the A-Wing fighter that could follow the same maneuvers as a manned version via a slave-circuit system until the individual drones learned enough to enter combat on their own. There had been 3 different models, only the third (pictured here) succeeded with all expectations from the design team, but costs prevented more then a handful of prototypes being built until the start of the Yuuzhan Vong War, in which these drones had been mass produced.
